The provincial government has failed to take positive action on climate change and carbon dioxide emissions while we continue to have the highest per capita emissions in Canada. That’s according to the interim leader of the Saskatchewan Green Party, Richard Jack, who gives the example of only committing $10-million to transition the Estevan coal industry, while a transition of the economy around the world is occurring quite rapidly.
You can hear what the Green Party is all about in Saskatoon tomorrow (Sat) between 1 and 4 at the Rusty McDonald Branch Library on Primrose Drive for a leadership race forum. The three candidates are Naomi Hunter and George Wooldridge of Regina and Maria Lewans of Swift Current. The next leadership event will be February 29th in Regina, where members will be able to vote for their new leader. Jack says democracy can only happen when we allow ourselves to listen to every side of the debate without fear or prejudice.
