Manufacturing sales in Saskatchewan were off 7.8 per cent November to December. Statistics Canada says we were one of four provinces recording a decline and ours was the largest. Nationally, sales fell 0.7 per cent. Compared to December of 2018, sales were down last December by 16.9 per cent in Saskatchewan. For that period, there were six provinces recording drops and again, ours was the largest. Nationally, sales rose 0.1 per cent. Total sales in Saskatchewan last December were about $1.2 billion.
In Saskatoon, manufacturing sales fell.4.6 per cent November to December. But they were up 1.3 per cent on the year-over-year side. Total sales were $293 million. By comparison, Regina’s sales fell a whopping 32 per cent month-to-month and 21.6 per cent year-to-year. Total sales came in at $346 million.
For all of 2019, total sales in Saskatoon amounted to about $3.6 billion; 2.2 per cent less than the year before. Regina’s sales totaled about $6.2 billion. That was 20 per cent less than the year before.
