The City of Saskatoon has a Strategic Plan, a City Centre Plan, an Active Transportation Plan, among others, and the plan that is the umbrella for all of these is under way right now.
Saskatoon’s current Official Community Plan was approved in 1998 and updated in 2009, so it’s getting a redesign.
Lesley Anderson, director of planning and development, says since that last update all of these more specific plans were brought to the public and made official.
For example, once approved, the redesigned OCP would set out a long term vision while the Strategic plan sets up the short term 4 year priorities for achieving that vision.
A proposed new Official Community Plan is being presented to various city committees over the next few months before the final draft will be brought to City Council for consideration at a Public Hearing.
