RCMP say the large police response two miles east of Regina on Thursday morning shortly before 6:30 a.m. was in response to a man armed with a gun.
Responding officers say they made contact with the driver, saw that he had a handgun, ordered him to drop the gun and get out of the vehicle. He didn’t and tried to drive away but the vehicle was stuck.
Officers from White Butte, Moose Jaw, Lumsden, the Combined Traffic Services Section, Southey and Regina Police Dog Services set up a perimeter until the Emergency Response Team attended and was able to take a man into custody without injuries.
Officers say they seized approximately 8 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine, over $600 in cash, the seizure of a scale, a handgun which did not have a magazine or ammunition, and the vehicle and licence plate were later determined to be stolen
