The biggest item on the public agenda for tonight’s (mon) City Council meeting is short-term rental regulations.
Nathan Rotman, the Deputy Director of Airbnb Canada is scheduled to present to council during the meeting before councillors make their decisions on whether or not to introduce new regulations for short-term rentals.
The new rules would see a number of hosts having to obtain a business licence. The City is proposing that people who rent out their entire property would have to pay a $125 dollar business license.
Those who are renting out a property where they don’t reside at or are absent during the rental time, would only be allowed to serve six guests at a time and would be required to provide two off-street parking spots that are paved.
The discussion will take place at 6 o’clock at City Hall.
