“As we grapple with managing waste from single-use plastics, do we have a full understanding of the problem we’re trying to solve?” This is one of the questions the College of Engineering and the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy are asking, as they host an event to explore the issue of single-use plastics. Five panelists will explore the idea of thinking beyond bans. One of the concerns is whether a total ban would create new problems. Engineering Dean Suzanne Kresta says, “We don’t want to have a, ‘this is right, this is wrong,’ conversation”. She says the aim is to expand understanding. The discussion is being held tomorrow (wed) afternoon at 4:30 in room 107 of the Physics Building on campus.
