Both Saskatchewan and Manitoba are reporting 2 fatal snowmobile accidents. Outlook RCMP responded to a single snowmobile crash in the RM of Fertile Valley on Friday night around 8:55. A 44 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Then early monday morning around 12:40, Rose Valley responded to a single snowmobile accident just east of Archerwill on a snowmobile trail. A 33 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene. In both cases, investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor.
In Manitoba, a 20 year old man died after a collision on the side of Highway 45 west of Elphinstone, which is about 100 kilometres north of Brandon. Yellowhead RCMP says 2 drivers were side by side in a field last Thursday when they went over a steep embankment and hit the ground. The 2 men, 44 and 20 years old, were taken to hospital with serious injuries, but on Monday, the younger man died. There was also an accident near The Pas, Manitoba on Saturday night. A 26 year old man died and a 22 year old woman was injured after their snowmobile hit a tree.
Some reminders from the RCMP are to obey all trail signs and speed limits, wear proper attire including a helmet and never ride impaired.
