The job vacancy rate in Canada’s private sector remained at is record-high 3.2 per cent in the 4th quarter of, for the 6th quarter in a row.
A report from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says 434-thousand jobs were vacant for at least 4 months in the final quarter of 2019.
By sector, vacancy rates were lower in agriculture, construction and retail, but they were offset by increases in professional services, information, health care and hospitality.
Quebec had the highest job vacancy rate at 4.1 per cent.
Saskatchewan’s unfilled jobs rate in the final months of 2019 was third lowest at 2.2 per cent with Alberta at 2.1 per cent and Prince Edward Island at 1.9 per cent.
Saskatchewan’s 2.2 per cent vacancy rate means 73-hundred unfilled jobs.
