Unifor will look to have their voice heard once again this weekend with the plan to picket the Co-op Annual General Meeting. More than 730 members of Unifor were locked out of the Regina refinery back in December and plan to take the fight to Saskatoon. The Federated Co-operatives annual general meeting begins on Monday with more meetings today and tomorrow. Unifor says they will hold information pickets in order to tell FCL leadership to end the 14 week lock out at the refinery with a new contract.
In a statement, Unifor National President Jerry Dias says he believes scab labour is profiting at the refinery and that the local co-op boards need to reign in what he calls rogue executives, before more damage is done to the Co-op brand.
The pickets are expected to run today (Saturday 7am-3pm) and tomorrow (Sunday 7am-3pm), at TCU Place in Saskatoon, alongside the co-op meetings.
