March came in like a lion for some areas of the province.
A system with snow and strong winds from northern Alberta travelled through the province late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
According to Environment Canada, the Saskatoon area received between 2-4 centimeters of snow which was accompanied by winds gusts of up to 73 kilometers an hour.
Mark Melsness, a meteorologist with the weather office says some highways experienced whiteout conditions for an hour or so.
Sunday’s forecast will see temperatures cool off before rising back to around the minus 8 mark. Melsness says a system expected to make its way to Saskatchewan Monday will bring milder air which will see temperatures hover around plus 3.
The RCMP sent out a news release Saturday evening advising the public that travel recommended on some roads in the province due to blizzard-like conditions in some areas.
The Highway Hotline was also reporting Sunday morning that travel isn’t recommended on a number of roads. For the latest road conditions, click under the news tab at cjwwradio.com.
The City of Saskatoon says their priority Sunday will be to clear Circle Drive and other major streets in the city. The City says a full fleet of sanders will be out Sunday evening to apply salt and sand on cleared roads to provide traction for the morning commute.
