Saskatchewan Rattlers Announce Signing of Negus Webster-Chan Sharpshooter set to return to the Rattlers for his second season in the CEBL
Saskatoon, Sask. (Mar. 3, 2020) – The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the re-signing of Negus Webster-Chan to their roster.
Webster-Chan returns to the Rattlers after winning the CEBL Championship with the team during its inaugural season. In 2019, the Scarborough, Ont.-native averaged 12.7 PPG, 4.1 REB and 3.3 AST, with a season-high 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists on May 11 against the Guelph Nighthawks. Webster-Chan played NCAA Division 1 basketball at the University of Missouri and the University of Hawaii. Prior to joining the Rattlers, Webster-Chan spent two seasons with the Toronto Raptors G League affiliate, Raptors 905 where he played alongside NBA Champions Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet. The 6-foot-7 guard quickly became a fan favourite with the Rattlers in 2019 and is credited for scoring the first-ever basket in CEBL history.
“We are thrilled to have Negus back with us. Negus brings a very high skill set back to the team, and his ability to shoot the ball from deep range will help to spread the floor on offense,” said Rattlers GM, Barry Rawlyk. “While Negus had to work his way through a few injuries last season, if he can remain healthy, he will prove to be one of the most productive players in the league.”
The Rattlers enter the 2020 season as the defending CEBL Champions. They will open the season away from home on May 8 when they take on the Fraser Valley Bandits. The Rattlers home opener will take place on May 14 against the Bandits, when they will celebrate the 2019 season by unveiling the first-ever CEBL Championship banner. Season tickets and flex packs are available on therattlers.ca, with group and single-game tickets expected to be released in the coming months.
