A shooting in the city this morning (wed). Saskatoon Police were called to the 400 block of 21st Street East around one o’clock. Hudson’s is located on that block. Police say a 25 year old man is alleged to have entered the business and discharged a rifle. No one was hurt. He was overpowered by staff who held him until police arrived. A rifle was recovered at the scene. The investigation is continuing but police say he will be facing numerous weapons-related charges. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
There was a car/pedestrian accident last night around eight o’clock at 22nd Street and Avenue G. Saskatoon Police say a 17 year old girl was crossing mid-block from the centre median when she was struck. She was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Traffic restrictions were in place for both eastbound and westbound traffic in that area. Those were lifted about an hour later. The police are reminding pedestrians to use crosswalks or controlled intersections when crossing the street.
About 10:40 last night, a suspicious vehicle was spotted with a licence plate that did not match the vehicle. A K9 Unit Officer tried to pull it over but the vehicle sped off. Air Support kept ground units aware of the vehicle’s location and it ended up on the 18 hundred block of Avenue D North where officers arrested the driver. A 30 year old man is facing multiple charges including Possession of Stolen Property, Failing to Stop, and Possession of a Weapon. He is in court today.
