Students rallied at the Saskatchewan Legislature from across the province to show support for teachers and to urge the government to propose a fair offer so sanctions which are to begin on Thursday can be stopped.
The teachers won’t be doing an extracurricular activities which means school sports teams are affected.
The students were chanting “Let us Play”.
The province has a new offer which includes a $15-hundred payment in year 1 and then 3 years of 2 per cent increases.
The government has also committed funds to deal with class size and complexity through a committee formed last fall which has met several times to develop a framework.
The STF chose not to be on the committee, stating that the issue should be part of contract negotiations.
