If you subscribe to SaskAlert you may have gotten the message about police being given the power to enforce self-isolation in Saskatchewan. And a possible $2,000.00 for non-compliance. The RCMP acknowledges that measures announced play an “essential role” in ensuring everyone’s wellbeing. However, they are still working with the health and provincial policing partners to figure out the details of enforcement, if it is necessary. Calls to the RCMP regarding this matter are being recorded.
The Saskatoon Police Service says they are also getting phone calls about people who are not self-isolating, so as they are working out how the enforcement will take shape, and once they have a recording system in place they will forward the callers’ information to the Ministry of Health.
Message from SaskAlert’s Critical Alert:
“All travelers returning from outside of Canada are subject to a mandatory 14 day self isolation order. Violation of the order may result in a fine of 2000 dollars. Information on COVID 19 can be found as Saskatchewan.ca COVID 19.”
