People in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are less concerned about becoming sick from COVID-19 than the rest of the country. An Angus Reid poll shows concern at 61 per cent of those polled in Albert and Saskatchewan; 62 per cent in Manitoba. But everywhere else, 70 to 76 per cent of those polled are concerned about it. People in Atlantic Canada are most concerned. The Saskatchewan Health Authority is predicting that hospitals in the province may be overwhelmed by people needing treatment. Confidence in community healthcare in Saskatchewan has remained fairly stable throughout the period of awareness from early February to this week, ranging from 49 to 52 per cent. Confidence is lowest in Atlantic Canada, ranging from 40 to 45 per cent. People in Saskatchewan are quite confident the province is doing a good job of handling the threat, going from a low of 42 per cent in February to a high of 78 per cent now. At the federal level, most people think Ottawa is doing a good job handling the outbreak. 69 per cent here are satisfied. People in Quebec are least satisfied with the feds at only 49 per cent. 40 per cent of Canadians think things will be back to normal in three to six months. 31 per cent think it will be six months to a year. The rest see different time frames for that.
