The Regina Police Service in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service is investigating the death of a 19 year old girl who may have died of a drug overdose. The investigation is continuing.
Police were dispatched just after 1 a.m. on March 11th to a Regina home and found the woman unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead and her name is not being released.
Test results are now back showing there was fentanyl and carfentanyl in her system. Regina Police are warning about the consequences of illicit drug use. Even if people aren’t making good choices, others around them should be aware of the greater potential for a drug overdose. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Acts protects anyone who calls 911 about an overdose, so there would be no charges.
It was also on March 11th that Regina Police released new numbers on the rash of overdoses they’ve been dealing with in the city. At that time, there had been 100 since January 1st.
