Saskatchewan Sport has honoured its 2019 award winners as scheduled…just not in the way they usually do!
While Thursday night’s gala event to honour the winners and all the finalists cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sask Sport released the list of 13 award winners. Seven of the 13 are for athletes, coaches and teams based on their performances and results in 2019. The other six awards go to deserving coaches, officials and volunteers for their long-time service to the community. The gala event, to have been held in Saskatoon, will not be rescheduled.
The best of 2019 awards are dominated by those from Saskatoon and area. Among those are para cyclist Keely Shaw of Saskatoon as the Female Athlete-of-the-Year, kayaker Jarret Kenke of Saskatoon is the Male Athlete-of-the-Year, Jason Reindl from Athletics and of Saskatoon is the Coach-of-the-Year while the Team Sask 19-and-under men’s water polo squad is the Team-of-the-Year. The full list of Sask Sport award winners follows in their news release…
