Among those feeling the pinch of COVID-19 are students at the University of Saskatchewan. Without their part-time jobs, many find themselves unable to pay rent and bills, or buy groceries and needed medication. Some need car repairs in order to go home while others, like international student, don’t have the option of going home. USask President Peter Stoicheff says there is a Nasser Family Emergency Students Trust fund that students in need can access. He says, before the pandemic, one student would typically access the funding in a week. But, this week alone, 21 students have sought help for basic needs.
