According to Gas Buddy.com, including the change in gas prices in Saskatoon during the past week, prices yesterday were at least 52.8 c/L lower than the same day one year ago. Some stations this morning have regular unleaded at 63.9 cents a litre.
Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy says today is the 38th day the Canadian national average price has fallen and the the first week of the national average being under 80 cents a litre for the first time since the 2008 recession. He points to motorists parking their cars and sheltering at home leading to an unprecedented drop never seen in gasoline demand. He says it has contributed to gas prices sinking “like a rock.”
