Teachers and staff in Saskatchewan are set to resume work Monday either at home or at their office while following advice from public health regarding COVID-19 protocols.
Educators will then determine the best routes to provide distance learning for students who are able to participate.
Assistant Deputy Minister of Education Clint Repski says the ministry of education’s framework for this program will be able to support families with resources so students can continue learning while schools remain closed. He says they ministry is trying to emphasize the multiple modes of delivering instructions from paper to phone calls and that in terms of resourcing the operating grants that have been given to schools will continue to be provided.
Repski mentioned that school divisions will determine how to best resource their families and students. Suggesting the province’s framework is broad enough that schools will be able to support families. He says there are 27 unique school divisions across the province that know their families and students better than anyone.
Schools have now been closed since March 20th.
