Saskatchewan drivers who frequent the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 2 at Wakaw have just another month to slow down.
Photo Speed enforcement was approved in December and installed at the end of January, a 3 month warning period was put in effect and active ticketing will likely begin at the end of the month.
SGI says a PSE committee reviewed 9 applications last year for photo radar and the Wakaw location was chosen. Data showed that 42 percent of vehicles traveling through the area were speeding. From 2011-2017 there were 31 collisions that resulted in six deaths and 45 injuries. Previous attempts to get drivers to slow down included lowering the speed limit, additional signage, speed display devices, flashing warning lights and an increased traffic enforcement presence.
