The number of new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan was equal to the number of people who have recovered from the novel coronavirus in Tuesday’s update from the province.
The seven recoveries mean 88 people have returned to good health after contracting COVID-19. The seven confirmed, new cases brings the provincial total to 260…169 of the cases considered active. No new deaths were reported from the novel coronavirus in Saskatchewan, leaving the total at three. As for people hospitalized because of COVID-19, that number is up to seven…five in Saskatoon and two in Regina. Each city has a hospitalized patient with the coronavirus in Intensive Care.
The breakdown by reason for the 260 cases of COVID-19 in the province is 115 in travellers, 80 cases are community contacts, 13 have no known exposure and 52 cases are under investigation by local public health.
By region (pictured), Saskatchewan’s 260 novel coronavirus cases are split with 131 in Saskatoon, 52 cases from Regina and area, 48 from the north, 14 cases from the south, 10 from the central region and four cases from the far north.
As far as the gender breakdown, Tuesday’s percentages remain at 53% male and 47% female.
The demographic split shows the large majority of COVID-19 cases in the province are adults with the exception of 13 involving persons aged 19 and under. Otherwise, 43 cases are in the 65-and-over range, 112 in the 20 to 44 age range and 92 cases are between the ages of 45 and 64.
Saskatchewan continues to have the second-highest per capita rate of COVID-19 tests performed amongst the provinces in Canada…a total of 14,722.
