The three unions representing workers at community-based organizations, or CBOs, in Saskatchewan are calling on all levels of government to provide additional support to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. SGEU President Bob Bymoen says, “Our members are still working on the front lines, putting themselves at risk to provide these services to Saskatchewan residents who need them.” He wants them to have access to personal protective equipment or PPEs. The workers provide services such as addictions counseling, group homes, women’s shelters, daycare, and mobile crisis agencies. The unions are asking for funding, clear guidelines, as well as training the the use of PPEs.
