With the Easter weekend just beginning, a Saskatchewan Health Authority medical health officer is providing clarity around family gatherings during the pandemic.
Dr. Johnmark Opondo says Saskatchewan’s Public Health Order doesn’t permit gatherings of over 10 people, but that doesn’t mean it’s in your best interest to have a gathering of 10 or under if they don’t normally live in the same home.
He understands that we all want to visit our loved ones, but if you don’t live with them, you would just be increasing their chances of catching COVID-19.
Dr. Opondo says your family members may have been staying at home, but if you go out to get groceries or go to work, there is always that possibility of transmission.
He suggests if we make this sacrifice this weekend, it will help to dampen any transmission of the virus and we will come out of the pandemic sooner.
Small family gatherings aren’t prohibited, but they are being discouraged.
