On Sunday, Saskatchewan COVID-19 numbers saw 7 new confirmed cases and 2 new presumptive cases of COVID-19 in the province, bringing the total to 298 reported cases. More than half of confirmed cases have recovered with only 130 cases considered active, and 164 recoveries.
20 of the cases are under 19 years old. All others are adults, with 53% of the cases are males and 47% are females
25 cases are a result of local exposures that are unidentifiable and are not related to travel or mass gathering/event-related.
32 cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related. At this time 7 individuals are hospitalized all of which are currently inpatient hospitalizations and there are no current ICU hospitalizations. 4 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.
In Saskatoon there are 147 cases, of which on 68 are currently active.
More Testing to Be Done in the Province
To date, 19,276 COVID-19 tests have been performed. Sunday’s presumptive cases were due to more testing machines being added in Saskatchewan. The province says a new machine to test for COVID-19 is online at the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory. The first 10 positive specimens identified by the new machine must be considered presumptive positives and require confirmation using the lab’s existing machine.
In addition, Meadow Lake has started testing and these cases are considered presumptive positives until confirmed by the RRPL.
