The opposition Conservatives say the federal government isn’t doing enough to help small and medium businesses suffering financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Finance Critic Pierre Poilievre says they’re proposing the government make the wage subsidy to small business available next week through their banks and credit unions.
They are proposing that the $40 thousand cap on the emergency business account be lifted. He says businesses would then spend the money on wages and reimburse the banks or credit unions as soon as the wage subsidy arrives from the Canada Revenue Agency.
Poilievre says Canada is lagging behind countries like the U.S and Germany in getting the aid out.
