The positive numbers in Saskatchewan, with regards to COVID-19 recoveries and new cases, continued Tuesday.
The provincial update revealed nine more recoveries for a total of 187 while only one new, confirmed case of the novel coronavirus was reported bringing the provincial total to 301, with 110 cases considered active…seven of those in hospital, none in Intensive Care. The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan remains at four.
While 34 cases of the virus were attributed to health care workers…19 of those people have recovered. The Saskatchewan update says the 34 health care worker infections may not all be related to health care work.
In addition, the province passed the 20-thousand mark in COVID-19 tests performed…now at 20,282. That continues to be the second-highest rate of testing per capita among the provinces.
When it comes to how the 301 novel coronavirus cases in Saskatchewan was contracted, 131 are travelers, 121 cases are from community contacts…including mass gatherings, 27 have no known exposure and 22 cases are under investigation by local public health.
The gender split of the 301 cases continues to be 53% male and 47% female.
The breakdown of COVID-19 cases by region (pictured) has 147 from the Saskatoon area, 65 from the Regina area, 57 cases from the north, 15 from the south, 10 cases from the central region and seven from the far north.
As for coronavirus cases split into demographics, only 21 involve people aged 19-and-under…the rest are adults. Fifty-one of the cases are people aged 65-and-over, 129 are in the 20-44 range and the remaining 100 cases are in the 45-64 age range.
