Saskatoon, Sask. (Apr. 14, 2020) – The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the signing of Canadian forward Denzell Taylor.
Taylor, a Toronto, Ont.-native has played with the Moncton Magic (National Basketball League of Canada) since 2017-18. Over the course of his three years with the team, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 5.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 25.9 minutes. After the 2018-19 season, Taylor was named to the NBLC All-Defensive team. Taylor has also represented Canada at the international stage when he was part of the team that competed at the U19 World Cup in 2013.
Prior to turning pro, Taylor attended Old Dominion University (NCAA Division 1) for four years. Taylor finished his collegiate career in 2017 averaging 3.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 26.6 minutes per game. Starting the majority of his collegiate career, Taylor amassed 928 total rebounds placing him 10th all-time in the Old Dominion University history.
“We are thrilled to have Denzell joining the team”, said Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk. “Denzell is a force on both ends of the floor picking up rebounds at an exceptional rate. Denzell will be a good fit with the other parts of the roster that have already been assembled. Adding another big body to the court was a must and we feel that Denzell will do an admirable job in his role with the team.”
The Rattlers enter the 2020 season as the defending CEBL Champions. They are set to begin their second season this summer. For more information visit therattlers.ca.
