There are now 27,557 cases of COVID-19 in Canada. That includes 954 deaths. 462 thousand people have now been tested, with 6% positive.
During her daily briefing in Ottawa, Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam also announced that it’s taken just over 3 months for the first cluster of COVID-19 cases in China to spread globally, and establish the pandemic.
Tam say there is encouraging news. During March the number of cases was doubling every 3 days, but now it’s every 10. But, she says this is a marathon not a sprint and there are no rewards for quitting early.
The federal government is rolling out a new mental health website designed to help those having difficulty dealing with anxiety or other issues due to the pandemic. Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu says it’s called “Wellness Together Canada”. It’s at “canada.ca/corona virus” as well as through the canada covid 19 app. She says it’s a suite of tools that you can choose from.
