After the Saskatchewan Government detailed estimates of lost revenue between 1.3 and 3.3 billion dollars in the province, NDP Leader Ryan Meili is calling on Premier Scott Moe to ensure appropriate legislative oversight and accountability.
Meili says the Premier is not interested in a collaborative task force with leaders to help guide a response to the immediate and long-term impacts of COVID-19, but suggests that every plan can be improved with another set of eyes.
While a task force is the NDP’s preference, they stress the need for a plan with oversight on both the government’s spending and plans to respond to COVID-19.
Meili noted that the World Health Organization has urged governments to adopt a cross-partisan, multi-sector response to COVID-19 and says the opposition is prepared to work with the government on ways to preserve physical distancing while resuming Legislative business.
