Despite Saskatchewan’s improving COVID-19 numbers, RCMP in the province have been busy attending to calls related to the novel coronavirus.
Between March 1 and April 16, Saskatchewan RCMP personnel have received 894 COVID-19-related calls for service, with 13 charges being laid. The majority of the calls were resolved by officers educating the public of the potential health and enforcement consequences that can come with non-compliance of the Provincial Health Order.
Of the 894 calls, 395 were complaints of people failing to self-isolate when allegedly being required to do so, 229 complaints were for social gatherings of more than 10 people and the remaining 270 calls were for other COVID-19-related complaints.
