Wave of the Future 3D has almost fifty, 3d printers and an in house designer that are being utilized to produce face shields, masks, mask clips and even prototypes to donate to health care facilities and essential businesses. Randy Janes, with Wave of the Future, says before the pandemic they had purchased a large pallet of plastic sheets that are being used, based off a model that was shared online in North America. He adds they have been able to revamp and redesign those spec based on feedback from the community.
Janes adds that Wave of the Future recently acquired a rushed license to manufacture and build medical supplies. He explains, they have had doctors come in for custom orders and will continue to work with the university and hospitals regarding supplies needed. The plastics used in production are useful as they can be sanitized and re-used again. Janes says one of the prototypes they are working on is a vacuum molded face mask that includes a custom built re-usable future.
He explains there is no cost to businesses that need the supplies, but they are accepting donations to help continue to cover the costs involved.
