A late Monday afternoon signing by the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they have added import defensive lineman Trenton Thompson to their pre-season roster.
The 23-year-old is a Georgia Bulldogs’ grad, who signed in 2018 with the N-F-L’s Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. From there, Thompson spent time in the spring leagues with the former A-A-F in 2019 and the X-F-L a couple of months ago. Following is the news release from the Riders…..

- American defensive lineman Trenton Thompson
Thompson (6’3 – 295) signed with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2018. After his time in Cleveland, Thompson played for the AAF’s Arizona Hotshots and most recently was a part of the XFL’s Team 9.
Collegiately, the 23-year-old played three seasons at the University of Georgia. He recorded 127 career tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and six sacks in 37 games and was part of the 2017 Bulldogs team that won the SEC Championship. Prior to committing to the Bulldogs, Thompson was a highly sought-after high school recruit and was named the All-USA National Defensive Player of the Year.
