The Saskatchewan Rattlers have signed a young American guard with a strong playing pedigree.
Armoni Brooks is a 6’3″ product of Austin, Texas who played collegiately at the U of Houston…an N-C-A-A Division 1 program. He was not drafted by an N-B-A team in 2019, but signed as a free agent with Washington…playing three Summer League games for the Wizards…before signing with Atlanta. He played four pre-season games with the Hawks before being assigned to Atlanta’s G-League team in College Park. Saskatchewan Rattlers Announce Signing of Armoni Brooks NBA G League stand-out joins the Rattlers
Saskatoon, Sask. (Apr. 20, 2020) – The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the signing of American guard Armoni Brooks.
Brooks signed with the NBA’s Washington Wizards as an undrafted free agent in 2019 to play in the 2019 NBA Summer League. Brooks played three Summer League games with the Wizards before signing with Atlanta Hawks. The 6-foot-3 guard played four preseason games with the Hawks averaging 3.5 points in 8.5 minutes of play. Brooks was waived by the Hawks prior to the start of the NBA regular season and was reassigned to the Hawks G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. In 43 games with the Skyhawks, Brooks has averaged 10.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 20.9 minutes on a .450 shooting percentage. The Austin, TX-native has impressed in the G League dropping a career-high 38 points on Jan. 24 against the Lakeland Magic. Brooks followed up that performance by scoring 32 points four days later against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Prior to turning pro, Brooks spent three years with the University of Houston Cougars (NCAA Division 1). The Cougars play in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) of the NCAA. Over his three year collegiate career, Brooks averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 21.8 minutes per game. Brooks’ impressive collegiate career garnered him the AAC Player of the week award twice, as well as being named the AAC Sixth Man of the year in 2018. In 2019, Brooks was named to the All-AAC Second Team and the AAC All-Tournament Team.

His ability to shoot the ball at an effective rate is imposing and I believe that he will become a fan favourite and a key contributor to the Rattlers on both sides of the floor.”
