A Critical Care ICU specialist at Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital says he couldn’t have said a few weeks ago that we had flattened the curve of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
But Dr. Hassan Masri says as of today, he believes it is true. He points to the single digit numbers of new cases of COVID-19 in the province for essentially the last two weeks with a lot of recoveries in between.
Dr. Masri applauds the whole province,- the government, the people, organizations, businesses – everyone who worked to flatten the curve.
He points to our neighbours in Alberta which had looked like it was going to flatten the curve several days ago but for the last few days they have had record numbers which are largely related to one outbreak.
Dr. Masri stresses that all our hard work in Saskatchewan can be quickly undone so it is important to not be complacent. He says this is not the time to ease restrictions or stop any of the protocols we’ve enacted like social distancing, hand washing, and respiratory etiquette.
Many who use social media may recognize Dr. Hassan Masri who started posting videos about COVID-19 in early March in an effort to make it easier for people to understand the disease.
