Saskatchewan SPCA Spokesman Josh Hourie says an emergency kit for your pet, in the event you become ill, should include a two week supply of pet food and water as well as medications they may need in addition to a travel crate. Although he does note you need to make sure any canned food doesn’t expire.
The SPCA is also suggesting that you speak to some trusted family and friends and have them available to take care of your pets.
As well, an information plan would be helpful, with your name and contact information, your pet’s feeding schedule, any medical conditions and treatment required. This would also include the pets’ vaccination status and your vet’s contact information.
