During his daily briefing, in Ottawa, Trudeau says the money will help those workers to purchase personal protective equipment, and adapt to safety protocols. The money will allow for the purchase of equipment such as freezers, to properly store seafood products until it can get to market.
Trudeau said he also spoke with Canada’s First Ministers Friday night on measures to gradually re-open the economy. Working with public health officials Trudeau says there is important coordination work being done at the national level to avoid confusion. He explains the government is working on a plan based off of science, data and expert advice that lays out the ambition to see the country through this.
Trudeau says they will need to be mindful that the economy and the realities of each province and territory are unique. So the timing and specific measures will be different across jurisdictions. The Prime Minister added these conversations are ongoing.
