Medavie Health Services wanted to get the message out there that you are taking your life in your hands by taking an illegal drug. Medavie’s Troy Davies what they are seeing, the drugs on the street being used right now, are extremely potent.

In the last week Medavie Health Services has responded to 571 call and 53 of those were overdose calls. And Davies says they have had an unusual past three days with nine overdose calls that required paramedics to administer Narcan.

He says the 9 patients were all in a life threatening situation when paramedics arrived on scene and all were critical but luckily responded to the Narcan given on scene. He points out Narcan is not a miracle drug. It depends on severity, the amount of drug as well as the amount of time a person has been in respiratory arrest or not even breathing.
