This week was to be the 8th annual Missing Person’s Week in Saskatchewan, but the Provincial Partnership Committee on Missing Persons has decided to postpone it because of COVID-19 considerations. The hope is to reschedule later in the year.
The PPCMP supports families of long-term missing persons and is made up of community, government, police and Aboriginal organization representatives. The Saskatoon Police Service is part of the committee.
Because there is no feast to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, members of the Police Service joined with the Saskatoon Tribal Council in a smaller ceremony, taking into consideration social distancing.
