The YMCA of Saskatoon’s Annual Suits+Sneakers event is going online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The night will be first virtual event for the YMCA, utilizing the ZOOM platform to include a virtual silent auction, live music, special guests and more.
YMCA Marketing and Philanthropy Director, Serena Dallas, says the fundraiser supports the Strong Kids Campaign. Dallas explains Strong Kids provides financial assistance to people in the community to be able to access programs and services at the YMCA.
Dallas it was important to move ahead with an online version because the need for support is already great in Saskatoon area to have access to high quality health and wellness programs. She adds once we return to a new normal people will be struggling more than in previous times, and it will be more important than ever to not turn anyone away.
This year’s fundraising goal is $185,000 and Dallas hopes they are able to surpass that so people can stay connected to exercise and community programs and services. Dallas says, last year, over 850 families were able to participate in the Strong Kids program.
The Suits+Sneakers Home Edition will take place June 18th from 7pm to 9pm, tickets and more information can be found here.
