This Victoria Day the City of Saskatoon is reminding the public that access to city hall, and city building including fire stations, leisure facilities, attractions and public libraries remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fixed route public transit services will be available for essential travel only and with reduced service. Access transit will be closed today. City owned public pay parking continues to be suspended until further notice but the city does recommend , for safety reasons, that residents be mindful of all parking restrictions.
The Saskatoon Zoo remains closed, however the forestry farm park is open, with play structures closed. Visitors are asked to maintain a safe, six foot distance away from others, outside their extended household. The city’s three golf courses opened for the season on Friday, tee times must be booked and paid for in advance, either online or by phone. Walk-on bookings will not be permitted.
Waste and recycling collections are scheduled as usual with weekly garbage pickup beginning today for applicable routes.
The Landfill will be open from 7:30 until 5:30, with cash transactions still suspended to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The city suggests high traffic at the landfill with longer than normal wait times. The West Compost Depot will be open from 9am to 6pm and the East Depot will be open from 11am – 5pm.
The city says recycling demands have been up recently, due to spring cleaning, and that has led to overfilled bins and an excessive amount of litter. Residents are reminded to not overfill bins and to close lids after use to avoid potentially contaminated material from being blown into neighbouring areas.
