Saskatoon firefighters were greeted by heavy smoke and flames when they arrived at a boarded up residential property on fire. Multiple 9-1-1 calls came in from the 1600 block of Avenue C North around 8 this morning.
A partial collapse occurred minutes before the fire was brought under control around 9 Wednesday morning.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says defensive ground-level and aerial attacks were initiated to get control of the fire and stop it from spreading to neighbouring properties – which had been evacuated by firefighters when they arrived at the scene.
Fire fighters are monitoring for flare-ups and a fire investigator is beginning to process the scene looking for the cause as well as a damage estimate.
