The City of Saskatoon’s public pay parking and other parking enforcement measures will return on Monday. The plan is endorsed by the Governance and Priorities Committee and a special meeting of City Council will be called later this week to formally approve it. The province’s Reopen Saskatchewan plan is the impetus behind the move. A report to the Committee recommended pay parking enforcement and requirements, including parking time limits, to help ensure turnover in high-demand pay park zones.
The report also recommends other parking enforcement measured be brought back including the on-street parking time limit of 72 hours in residential areas. Also recommended effective Monday was reinstating restrictions and enforcement in Residential Parking Program zones. The city will honour expired permits until a process is put in place for renewals.
The city will continue to honour expired hologram stickers used in conjunction with SaskAbilities parking permits to allow those with a valid SaskAbilities permit to park in pay parking zones without further payment.
