The provincial NDP has been requesting that Legislature resume so a budget can be passed for awhile, and would like to know from the government why it can’t be done.
NDP Leader Ryan Meili says he has witnessed Saskatchewan people step up in so many ways during the pandemic and it’s time for MLAs to step up and do the same by reopening the Legislature.
He would like a budget to be presented and debated so there is transparency.
Meili says even before COVID-19, the economy was struggling and public services were stretched thin, with not enough staff in emergency rooms, long-term care and overcrowded classrooms.
Meili would like to see a plan that responds to the deep economic challenges ahead, without deep cuts and privatization.
