A 29-year-old linebacker who played in 48 N-F-L games over the last three seasons, following a stint in the C-F-L, has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Green and White announced the addition of Deon Lacey to their pre-season roster Thursday. Lacey played 16 games with Miami in 2019. The 6’2″, 229-pound Alabama native suited up in 32 games for Buffalo the previous two years. Before that, Lacey played three seasons in the C-F-L with Edmonton, winning a Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 2015.
Meanwhile, the Riders added to their 2020 pre-season roster Thursday, signing an import player fresh out of a U-S College program.
Chris Livings is a 6′, 238-pound defensive end who played the last five seasons at McNeese State in Louisiana. His 30 career sacks left him one shy of the McNeese State school record. Following are the news releases from the Riders…..

RIDERS SIGN LINEBACKER DEON LACEY
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American linebacker Deon Lacey.
Lacey (6’2 – 229) joins the Riders after spending the last three seasons in the NFL. In 2019, Lacey played 16 games with the Miami Dolphins, recording four tackles. Prior to suiting up for the Dolphins, the 29-year-old spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills playing in 32 games and making sixteen tackles. The Alabama native initially started his NFL career after signing with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2013, playing in three preseason games and recording five tackles.
In February 2014, Lacey signed with the Edmonton Eskimos where he made an immediate impact, playing in 54 games over three seasons and recording 114 defensive tackles, 68 special teams tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, three interceptions and one touchdown. Lacey was named a CFL West All-Star in 2014 and helped the Esks win the Grey Cup in 2015. After the 2016 season, Lacey worked out for several NFL teams before signing with the Miami Dolphins in January.
Collegiately, Lacey spent four seasons at West Alabama. In his best season in 2011, he was named the Gulf Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to four All-American teams after collecting 97 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, four sacks, two interceptions, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery. He finished his college career with 267 tackles, nine sacks, six forced fumbles and five interceptions.

- American defensive lineman Chris Livings
Livings (6’0 – 238) spent the last five collegiate seasons as a defensive end at McNeese State University in Louisiana. The 23-year-old played in 42 games for the Cowboys recording 117 tackles, 44 tackles for loss, 30 sacks, five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. His 30 sacks left him just one shy of the McNeese sack record, while his 44 career tackles for loss ranks fourth all-time in school history.
The Louisiana native was heavily awarded during his collegiate career. In 2019, he was named to the All-Conference first team, was named Southland Conference’s Player of the Year and was selected to participate in the 2019 FCS National Bowl. In 2018, Livings was named to the All-SLC second team and All-Louisiana second team and was an All-SLC Honorable Mention in 2016.
