Justin Trudeau says more help is coming for the agriculture and food industries, hit hard by COVID-19.
The Prime Minister says funding will be made available for up to 700 youth jobs in the sector, providing support to the businesses while providing new opportunities for young people.
The Prime Minister also announced that a new deal has been reached to provide personal protective equipment for frontline health care workers.
Trudeau says General Motors has been contracted to produce 10 million face masks.
The Prime Minister says he’s willing to take a serum test when they become available for the coronavirus.
During his COVID-19 briefing, Trudeau was asked, given he was potentially exposed to the virus early on, if it was important to get one? He said yes, that the testing is an important part of understanding how the virus has been present in the country including in those who haven’t displayed any symptoms at all.
Trudeau also says the military deployment in Ontario and Quebec to help in long term care homes will be extended, particularly in Ontario, where the Prime Minister says “troubling observations” have been made, but would not reveal details.
