The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says 38 per cent of the country’s small businesses are now open with over half open here in Saskatchewan. In the latest survey, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island have the largest percentage of businesses open at 54 per cent. Saskatchewan is next at 51 per cent. The number of businesses saying they are fully closed has dropped to 17 per cent with 44 per cent saying they are partially open. Arts and recreation, social services, and restaurants/hospitality were less likely to be fully open. The biggest concern for businesses is maintaining safe social distancing for staff and customers.
