$8.3 million will be invested into six water management projects across the province.

The investment is apart of a series of water management infrastructure initiatives and programming from the Water Security Agency to support community across Saskatchewan. The projects are part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s $7.5 billion two-year capital plan that aims to stimulate the province’s economic recovery.

• $2.5 million will be allocated to the conveyance canal and pumping infrastructure at Pike Lake
• $2.5 million for the installation of travelling screens to capture and remove aquatic weeds from the M1 Canal
• $1.5 million to advance agriculture water management projects that deal with issues such as erosion control
• $600 thousand will go to multiple sources to clear natural channels of debris, sedimentation and general overgrowth
• $500 thousand will go towards municipalities to conduct flood mapping in order to support long-term mitigation
• $750 thousand will be used for upgrades to improved stoplog handling systems for control structures at six locations in the province.

Initial work on all projects is expected to begin immediately as part of the province’s commitment to invest $30 billion in infrastructure over the next decade.
