Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sidestepped a question about his government telling banks to ease mortgage penalties for people who’ve lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
The question came up this morning (fri) after reports of some people having to break their mortgages due to job loss.
Trudeau claims banks have taken significant measures in helping Canadians who have difficulties with their mortgages and he says his government will continue to work with financial institutions across the country.
Trudeau says they will make sure financial institutions are part of the solution in making sure Canadians get through this.
The Prime Minister was asked about relations with China, after a judge ruled Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou could be extradited to the U.S to face fraud charges.
There are fears of a backlash against our country, but Trudeau says the government will work to ensure Canadians get the equipment we need during the pandemic, while at the same time, expressing concern about the two Canadians who are being arbitrarily detained in China as well as expressing concerns about Hong Kong and the questions that need to be asked for the W-H-O.
