Organizer Gary Koop says their weekly Clang and Bang to honour all those people who have kept things going during COVID-19 will honour city workers this Saturday.
Residents and anyone who wants to take part stand on sidewalks, driveways, steps and lawns clapping and banging pots and pans. They have also had a guitar player and a bagpiper.
The fun begins at 7 p.m. at Rutter Crescent, across Main Street onto Quance Avenue, then up to 14th and then around Weir Crescent and back again.
The Greystone area resident says they’ve been doing this since April 1st and have honoured the city’s paramedics, STARS, Air Ambulance, fire fighters and the West Jet workers who were laid off.
They also collect donations for the food bank at the same time. Last weekend they collected 381 pounds of food for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre along with cash.
Some City Councillors and the Mayor will be there as well. Greystone Community Association is part of the organizing force and City Councillor Sarina Gersher is on the association so Koop says he doesn’t know what all will show up when the fun begins at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
